KIMS shines at IRACON 2019

KIMS made its presence felt at the National Rheumatology Conference ‘IRACON 2019’ held at Puducherry from 5th to 8th of December, 2019. Under the able guidance of the head of Dept. of Medicine Prof. S.S. Panda and unit heads Prof. A. P. Mohanty, Prof. Siddartha Mishra; Dr. Prasanta Padhan, Associate Professor; Dr. Sakir Ahmed, Assistant Professor from Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology as well as 5 junior residents from the Dept. of Medicine presented Original Research while 1 junior resident from Medicine presented a case.

The head of the Dept. of Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology, Prof. Ramnath Misra sent his congratulations and blessings with the team. The research work presented was possible only due to active and brilliant record maintenance initiated by Dr. Prasanta Padhan, Asso Prof, CIR. He had been helped in the work on early rheumatoid arthritis by Prof. B. K. Behera, Dept. of Community Medicine and Dr. Arup Mahapatra, who has recently completed his Post-Graduation from the Dept. of Community Medicine.

Dr. Sakir Ahmed, Assistant Professor, CIR delivered an invited talk on “Epigenetic influences in rheumatic diseases- A cause for diseases precipitation?” He was also a faculty for a workshop on vascular ultrasound in vasculitis. Besides, he contributed as chief rapporteur and presented a summary of the meeting at the end in front of the present/past presidents of the American College of Rheumatology(ACR), European League Against Rheumatology (EULAR) and Asia-Pacific League Against Rheumatology (APLAR) amongst other dignitaries.
