Materials, in many forms, play an important role in the day-to-day activities of humans. Both academics and industries work relentlessly to meet human needs by designing new materials for applications. While academicians are inclined towards innovations leading to publications, industries focus on cost-benefit for industrial production. Therefore, it is important to create an ecosystem where researchers from academics and industries come together on the same platform with a common goal to strengthen materials research. It will not only facilitate the exchange of ideas but also open income streams for fundamental research.

In this background, KIIT Deemed to be University organized a conference on “Emerging Smart Materials in Applied Chemistry – ESMAC 2022”, inviting researchers from industry and academics to discuss various aspects of materials in the field of environment, energy, biomedical and related streams. Prof. Chittaranjan Sinha; Dr. Pichaya In-Na, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand; Prof. Prasanta Rath, Dean, SAS; and Prof. K. K. Nanda, Director, IOP graced the inaugural ceremony.

Research scholars came together, discussed, and shared the fundamentals of science on this platform with a goal to diversify and decentralize science and technology. More than 500 participants from all over the world joined the conference. The best poster and best oral presentation awards were given at the valedictory ceremony, which was graced by Prof. S. Nanda; Prof. Sandeep Nigam, SO(G), BARC, Head, CIR; and Prof. T. K. Bastia. Prof. Kajol Parashar proposed the vote of thanks.
