KIDS Organizes free Dental Screening and Treatment Camp
Following the philosophy of the “Art of Giving” initiated by Prof. Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, a Mega Health Check-up camp was organised by Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences(KIMS), Bhubaneswar at Weaver’s Cooperative Govt. High School, Baigunia, of Bhapur Block in Nayagarh on 26th March 2023.
Under the able leadership of Dr. Jugajyoti Pathi, Deputy Director (Administration); and Principal Dr. Aswini Kumar Kar, the free dental screening and treatment camp was conducted by KIMS, which was guided by Dr. Ipseeta Menon ,HOD and Professor,KIMS.
The screened patients at the camp were mostly diagnosed with chronic generalized periodontitis; grossly decayed teeth; tooth wear (generalized attrition and abrasion) and stain and calculus deposits. Dental treatments like scaling, restorations and extractions were carried out among 200 patients in the mobile dental van and some of them were referred to the tertiary institute for further complex treatment procedures.
The treatment done also included – Oral prophylaxis, Extraction, & Dental Restorations. The camp benefitted the patients with free consultations and free distribution of medicines. The patients were educated about measures of prevention of tooth decay, gum diseases, tobacco cessation, tooth brushing techniques and maintenance of oral hygiene and healthy oral care habits.
