The International Relations Office, KIIT-DU, Organizes a Heritage Walk to Raghurajpur, Puri
The International Relations Office of KIIT Deemed to be University organized a Heritage Walk to Raghurajpur, Puri, on 24th August 2024. The program saw participation from 33 international students of KIIT, accompanied by officials from the International Relations Office, including Mr. Surya Kanta Tripathy, Senior Administrative Officer; Ms. Smarita Pati, Assistant Director; and Mr. Bijaya Panda, Manager-IR Hostel.
Raghurajpur is a heritage crafts village renowned for its traditional Pattachitra paintings and other art forms, such as palm leaf engraving, wood carvings, and Gotipua dance. During the visit, the students were given a tour of the village, where they met and interacted with local artisans. This interaction allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the meticulous process involved in creating Pattachitra paintings and other traditional art forms, as well as insight into the community’s way of life. The students also purchased authentic handicrafts directly from the artisans, which was a significant step towards supporting the local artisans.
This visit provided the students with a visual introduction to Odisha’s rich and vibrant artistic legacy.
