Virtual Counselling Session for International Students from Afghanistan

The International Relations Office along with the KIIT Counselling Cell organized a virtual counselling session for the international students from Afghanistan on 11th July 2021. The meeting was graced by Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Director, Student Counselling, Dr. Anita Pati, Dean, International Student Relations, Dr. K. Parashar, Deputy Director, NSS & Community Engagement Cell, Ms. Bandita Sahoo, Assistant Director, IRO and Mr. Sidharth Roy, IRO. 

International students are facing different types of challenges. Students from Afghanistan, in particular, are very much concerned and going through mental stress due to the ongoing situation in their country. It was informed that it has become quite difficult for the students to peacefully stay at home and focus on their career and studies. Under the circumstances, it was considered essential to retain positivity of the students and keep them appropriately motivated.

Dr. Anita Pati, Dean, International Student Relations introduced the members of the committee to the students and highlighted the academic support systems existing for the students at KIIT Deemed to be University. She also explained how to avail support to solve their academic related issues.

Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Director, Student Counselling apprised the students of the present challenging situation arising out of COVID-19. She urged the students to keep patience and wait till the situation becomes favourable. Dr. Priyabadini emphasized the role of KIIT Counselling Cell and advised the students to remain in touch with it or International Student Counselling Committee members in case of any need.

Dr. K. Parashar, Deputy Director, NSS & Community Engagement Cell addressed the students and helped them to get the solutions to their queries. She motivated the students and explained how to stand strong to fight against any negative thoughts during this crisis time.

Ms. Bandita Sahoo, Assistant Director, IRO highlighted the current immigration rules. She also explained the students regarding the role of IRO for the international student’s documentation system and addressed all the queries in this context. Mr. Sidharth Roy, IRO addressed queries of the students and advised them to keep faith on the KIIT Management and not be panicky in any situation.

The session concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Anita Pati, Dean, International Student Relations. Some of the students expressed their thanks to KIIT Management and faculty members for all their support and encouragement.
