KIIT International Relations Office Organizes National Security Symposium


The International Relations Office (IRO) of KIIT Deemed to be University (KIIT-DU) along with the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (MP-IDSA), New Delhi, organised a National Security Symposium on the 16th of April 2024 in the campus of KIIT Law School (KLS). MP-IDSA is the most prominent think tank in India for advanced research in international relations, particularly defence, strategic, and security issues. Its mission is to advance both domestic and global security through conducting defence and security-related research and sharing findings with decision-makers and the general public.

The symposium covered topics such as “India China Relation in a Changing World Order” by Amb. Sujan R. Chinoy, DG, MP-IDSA; “India as a Global Economic Power and the Security Imperatives” by Prof. Satya Narayan Mishra, Professor Emeritus, KIIT; “Reforms in the Defence Sector” by Col Vivek Chadha, Senior Fellow, MP-IDSA; “India-West Asia Dynamics: Emerging Trends” by Brig L C Patnaik, Former Chairman of OPSC; “Border Management” by Dr. Pushpita Das, Research Fellow & Coordinator of Internal Security Centre, MP-IDSA; “Indo-Pacific Dynamics in Indo-US Relations” by Dr Sanghamitra Patnaik, Associate Professor, KIIT Law School; “Radicalisation” by Dr Adil Rasheed, Research Fellow & Coordinator of Counter-Terrorism Center, MP- IDSA; and “State Responsibility and Doctrine of Non-intervention” by Mr Anirudha Choudhury, Assistant Professor, KIIT Law School.

The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Dr. Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU; Amb. Sujan R. Chinoy, DG, MP-IDSA; and Amb. Debraj Pradhan, Director General-International Relations, KIIT. They spoke about the importance of fostering interest among the citizens of the nation regarding India’s foreign policy in the areas of defense and security, given the dynamic and continuously evolving world order.

The presentations by the respective panellists were followed by a stimulating Q&A Session. Apart from the students from KIIT DU, distinguished guests from outside and other delegates, including around 60 research scholars from Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences(KISS) participated in the event.
