Motilal Oswal-KISS Residential Tribal School to be Inaugurated by Shri Naveen Patnaik

The Balangir Branch of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in the name of Motilal Oswal-KISS Residential Tribal School is going to be inaugurated by Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha on 15thFebruary, 2020 at Balangir. Smt. Tukuni Sahu, Hon’ble Minister, Women & Child Development and Mission Shakti; Smt. Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (LS), Balangir; Shri Narasingha Mishra, Hon’ble MLA, Balangir and Leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP); Shri Motilal Oswal, Group MD & CEO, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd.; Shri Raamadeo Agrawal, Group Chairman, Motilal Oswal, Financial Services Ltd.; Ms. Suneeta Agrawal, Chairperson, Motilal Oswal Foundation and Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS will grace the occasion.

Many tribal organizations and intellectuals had requested Dr. Samanta and KISS authority many a time to open a branch in Balangir district for the underprivileged and poor tribal children. Today their requests have been fulfilled. The poor tribal students of Balangir district will get quality education in Motilal Oswal-KISS Residential School. In the first phase, 1500 students from Balangir district will be enrolled from standard I to XII. The pass out students of standard XII from Motilal Oswal-KISS can pursue their higher education in KISS Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It has been decided by KISS authority that only candidates from Balangir will get employment in Motilal Oswal-KISS. The School, established on 20 acres of land with complete financial support from Motilal Oswal Foundation, is fully equipped with all modern facilities.

Twenty eight years back KISS was set up to enable tribal community join the mainstream of the society through education, which has been proved successfully today. Now KISS is the largest tribal institution and the first exclusive Tribal University in the world. More than 30000 students are currently pursuing their education from KG to PG, while 20000 students have completed their education successfully and are placed in different sectors. Another 10000 students are pursuing their education in 10 branches in 10 tribal dominated districts of Odisha during the current academic session. More important than providing education to 60000 students, KISS has created awareness among more than 60 lakh tribal people of Odisha and other states of India.
