KIIT School of Computer Applications (KSCA) observed ‘Cyber Jagrookta Diwas’ on 1st June 2022 to create awareness on cyber security. ‘Cyber Jagrookta Diwas’ is a nationwide initiative of the Ministry of Education to spread the importance of cyber security right from the grass-root level. Addressing the students on the occasion, Mr. Arijit Dutta, Associate-Learning and Development, High Radius Corporation explained the concepts of cyber security and hygiene in the current scenario. He also suggested some basic security measures to be adopted to avert cyber crimes. Among other, Prof. (Dr.) Kajal Parashar, Programme Coordinator, KIIT-NSS Bureau, and all the Program Officers and student volunteers of NSS Wing of KIIT-DU were present. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Prachi Vijayeeta.

KIIT School of Computer Applications observed “Shaheed Diwas” on 23rd March 2022 to honour the commitment of those who sacrificed their lives for the country. On this day, freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar were hanged to death by the British rulers of India in 1931. The nation will always be indebted to them for infusing a spirit of patriotism and inspiring generations of youth. The School had organized Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competitions. NSS volunteers and many first-year national and international students of MCA, BCA and B.Sc. actively participated in the competitions. The event was graced by NSS Program Coordinator of KIIT-DU, Prof. (Dr.) Kajal Parashar. The Head of the School, all faculty members, and staff members motivated the students to be a part of the event.    

Professor Prachi Vijayeeta, Program Officer, NSS Wing of KSCA and Prof. Sadhna Sudershana of KIIT School of Computer Applications addressed the gathering with a brief introduction to the events of the competition. Prof. Manas Mukul of KIIT School of Computer Applications handled the technical and the social media aspects of this important event.

School of Computer Applications, KIIT Deemed to be University organized a talk on cloud computing on virtual mode by Mr. Puspendu Nandi, Senior Engineer, Capgemini, Hyderabad and an alumnus (2017-2020 batch) of KIIT Computer Applications, under Alumni Talk Series on 13th March 2022.

He spoke about the adoption of cloud computing and how it is gaining momentum and will continue to do so, with increasing participation expected to be witnessed from both private as well as public sector. During his hour-long talk, he reminisced about his college days and shared his nostalgia with KIIT Deemed to be University and his journey of success. He also praised the initiation of alumni connect, an initiative started by Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS.

Earlier, Dr. S. R. Dash from KIIT School of Computer Applications welcomed the alumni speaker. The talk followed a question-answer session coordinated by Prof. S.S. Patra, Associate Professor. Students also interacted with Mr. Puspendu, along with other faculty members of the school. The session was coordinated and moderated by the Alumni Coordinator of the School, Prof. Chinmaya Mishra.

KIIT School of Computer Applications observed the festival of Makar Sankranti on 14th January 2022 with a mass virtual Surya Namaskar. It was suggested by the Ministry of AYUSH to celebrate Makar Sankranti with great devotion towards Sun God. The objective of performing Surya Namaskar is to maintain the rich culture and heritage of India. It gave a message to the society as well as to the coming generation regarding ancient philosophy of India.

The celebration was graced by Dr. Veena Goswami, Director of KIIT School of Computer Applications. Prof. S.S Patra, Prof. U.C. De and all staff, NSS Volunteers of KSCA   participated at the event. Professor Prachi Vijayeeta addressed the gathering with a brief introduction to the topic.

Arghya Mitra- NSS student volunteer of MCA-1st Semester took the lead role by performing all the 12 asanas of Surya Namaskar. He briefly described the scientific, biological and health benefits of each of the postures. Prof. U.C De threw light on the benefits of asanas.  Professor Manas Mukul of KIIT School of Computer Applications, handled the technical  and the social media aspect of this valuable event. The event was highly motivational and inspired the participants to be fit and healthy during this tough pandemic time. The event wrapped up with a vote of thanks by Prof. Prachi Vijayeeta.

KIIT School of Computer Applications observed “National Youth Day” to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on 12th January 2022.

Gracing the event, the fastest woman sprinter of India Ms. Dutee Chand, who has set a significant milestone in the field of athletics and has become an inspiration for every youth of the country, delivered a talk.She briefly described her grooming in a nuclear family and the difficulties she had come across during her childhood days. She recalled how her sports journey started from running beside the river bank near a small village.

During her deliberation, she shared a glimpse of all her achievements including both National and International medals, her experiences in Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Arjun Award, post Olympic felicitation by President and Prime Minister of India etc. Athlete Dutee Chand, was highly honored by the founder of KIIT and KISS, and Parliamentarian Dr. Achyuta Samanta. She conveyed a brief yet vital message to the upcoming generation that, other than education, there are many fields like sports, art and culture etc. which can also be adopted by youth in order to excel themselves in the society.

The occasion was also graced by Prof.(Dr.)Kajal Parashar, Programme Coordinator, KIIT-NSS Bureau, and all the Program officers of NSS wing of KIIT Deemed to be University. Professor Sadhna Sudershana of KIIT School of Computer Applications, welcomed the speaker with an introductory note, and welcomed the NSS volunteers, the participants of the event and all the dignitaries. Professor Prachi Vijayeeta addressed the gathering with a brief introduction to the topic

Following the formal meeting, nearly 6 NSS student volunteers deliberated theme based speeches, poems, shayaris and songs. NSS Volunteer – Saishree of BCA-6th Semester anchored the cultural event on the whole. Professor Manas Mukul and Professor B.B. Dash of KIIT School of Computer Applications, handled the technical  and the social media aspect of this event. The event was absolutely a bilateral discussion among the speaker and the participants, that energized the whole event. The moral support of all the staff members of KSCA and NSS wing of KIIT Deemed University enlightened the enthusiasm of volunteers to conduct various upcoming events.

Memoria- Batchwise Old Student Connect Series was organized by students of 1998-2001 MCA batch, School of Computer Applications, KIIT Deemed to be University on 8th January 2022 through hybrid mode at Bhubaneswar Golf Club. Old students from India, Australia, USA and many other countries joined the occasion.

Dr. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT-DU; Dr, Veena Goswami, Director, School of Computer Applications; and Dr. G.B Mund, Sr. Professor interacted with the students, as they were the ones who taught them during their KIIT-life and updated them about the current rank, infrastructure and about the school and KIIT  Deemed University as a whole.

The Students shared many of their old memories associated with KIIT and specially about the Founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta during their studies. Students also invited many of the old staff of their time like Mr. T.K. Dey; and Director of Admission Mr. Prasanta Mohapatrato this meeting. Abhishek Rath, Ajit and others played a key role to conduct the Old Student Connect Series of MCA 1998-2001 batch successfully.

KIIT School of Computer Applications observed “International Human Rights Day” on 10th December 2021 to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the United Nations General Assembly. Shri Jagadananda, State Information Commissioner, Odisha and  Founder & Mentor, Centre for Youth and Social Development (CSYD) delivered a talk at the event. He marked a massive milestone in the advancement of humanitarianism. The presentation focused on the rights of every individual everywhere, without distinction based on nationality, place of residence, gender, national or ethnic origin, religion, language, or any other status. 

On the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Kajal Parashar, Programme Coordinator, KIIT-NSS Bureau welcomed the new NSS volunteers, the participants of the event and shared her thoughts on what NSS is all about.

Professor Prachi Vijayeeta addressed the gathering with a brief introduction of the topic. She went on to add the necessities of Human Rights in one’s life as well as towards the community. Prof. Sadhna Sudershana of KIIT School of Computer Applications welcomed the speaker with an introductory note. Prof. Manas Mukul of KIIT School of Computer Applications handled the technical and the social media aspect of this important event. The event was a bilateral discussion among the speaker and the participants. The presentation by the speaker on “Fifth Space” was highly appreciated by all.

The deliberation was followed by sharing some experiences of NSS Program Officer of Film and Mass communication, with the speaker. Lastly, a vote of thanks was conveyed by Professor Prachi Vijayeeta.

‘Memoria’ – Batchwise Old Student Connect Series was conducted by School of Computer Applications, KIIT Deemed to be University on 25th September 2021 through online mode. Old students, belonging to the 1999-2002 batch, from India, Finland, UK, USA and many other countries joined the event. The objectives of ‘Memoria-Old Student Connect Series’ are to connect old students with their School and the current students; to make them aware about the happenings in and around KIIT campus; and to enable the current students to take their help and guidance in projects and placements. Welcoming the participants, Dr. Satya Ranjan Dash, Student Affairs Faculty-in-charge shared the importance and objective of ‘Memoria’. Dr. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT-DU, Dr, Veena Goswami, Director, School of Computer Applications, Dr. G. B. Mund, Sr. Professor and other faculty members interacted with the students. A two-minute silence was observed to pay homage to Anamika, a batchmate who lost her life to Covid-19. Hara Prasad Sahoo, Pranab Kumar Bharimalla, Ramakant and Udayanath, Student batch coordinators helped conduct the event.

KIIT School of Computer Applications (KSCA) and KIIT School of Civil Engineering (KSCE) jointly celebrated the NSS Week 2021 on ‘Ethical Digital Literacy, Van Mahotsav and Swachhata Drive’. The event generated awareness on these burning issues. Dr. Kajal Parashar, Programme Coordinator, KIIT-NSS Bureau said, creating awareness on contemporary issues is an important role and responsibility of NSS volunteers.

Professor Prachi Vijayeeta, Programme Officer of School of Computer Applications addressed the participants and provided a brief introduction to the topic. She went on to add the necessities of ethical digital literacy in one’s life. Professor Satya Ranjan Samal, Programme Officer of School of Civil Engineering shared his experience with NSS. An alumnus of KIIT School of Computer Applications, Mr. Sahansha Khan, who is a Senior Programmer in the Ministry of Interiors, Bahrain, gave all the important information regarding ethical digital literacy. The presentation displayed by him was helpful for all.

The deliberation was followed by showcasing some posters, short videos, and a Van Mahostav and Swachchata drive by the  NSS volunteers. The vote of thanks was proposed by Professor Prachi Vijayeeta.
