A one day Faculty Development Programme on the theme “Investing for Amritkal” was conducted in the School of Social, Financial & Human Sciences on 11^th April, 2023 in collaboration with NISM and Aditya Birla Sunlife Mutual Fund, in presence of Dr. Saranjit Singh, Pro-Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU; Dr. Satya Gupta (Founder and CEO EPIC Foundation); and Prof. Priyadarshi Biswal, Dean – Career School, KIIT-DU.

The session highlighted about Dhan Ki baat, Securities Market as a vehicle for financial goal, Mutual Funds, choosing the correct investment, risk and precautions to be considered while investing and  career opportunity in Security Market.

The Primary objective of this Seminar was to generate awareness about the Role of Securities Market in wealth creation.

All the Faculty Members of the School of Social, Financial & Human Sciences attended the Programme. The whole programme was delivered by Mr. Kuldeep thareja (Sr. AGM, NISM) and Mr. Neelratna Chowbla, Content Manager, Aditya Birla AMC Ltd.

Dr. Puspalata Mahapatra, Assistant Professor, KIIT School of Social, Financial & Human Science, has been awarded with a patent by the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks, DIPP, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. The title of the invention is “Cryptocurrency and Bitcoin on Financial Transaction”.

The Department of Taxation and Department of Social Sciences & Humanities of KIIT School of Social, Financial & Human Sciences jointly organised a panel discussion on “Decoding Financial Bill 2022”. The panelists for the event were Dr. Pravas Mishra, Research & Knowledge Management Division of Oxfam India, an international development organization, and Mr. Soham Bandhopadhya, Associate, Athena Law Associates.

Dr. Mishra highlighted  key proposals of the government that were discussed in the budget along with the concerns and repercussions on various sectors. The speaker also addressed the issues with respect to limited allocation to social service schemes like MGNREGA. Mr. Bandhopadhya discussed the proposed amendments which might be introduced in the Income Tax Act of 1961 and its implications on the existing tax regime of our country. The speaker also discussed about the repercussions of taxation of crypto currency which can be a precursor to legalization of crypto-currency in the near future

The session was attended by the students of Taxation Honors and students of BA stream. Dr. Amar Kumar Mohanty and Dr. Bineet Kedia were the Convenors, while Dr. Snigdha Sarkar, Mr. Satya Narayan Jena and Mr. Prateek Mishra coordinated the panel discussion.
