KIIT & KISS Founder Shot Himself to a Saintly Orbit By Being Awarded The “Sandipani Gourav Maharshi Samman-2020”. Awards and recognitions are no mere feathers in the cap for the KIIT and KISS founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta but it has become a reality about inheritance of ideals built on a foundation of benevolence and concern for others. Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS and Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Kandhamal has been conferred with the prestigious “Sandipani Gourav Maharshi Samman-2020” by Bharatiya Sanskrutik Sambhardhak Trust, Porbandar, Gujarat on the eve of celebration of the Silver Jubilee of the trust.

An All-encompassing Outreach

Breaking out of the limits of the contours of class and geographic limits, Dr. Samanta has been on the job and this time his outreach crosses the provincial limits. In a ceremonial event held in the presence of Shri Nimaben Acharya, Hon’ble Speaker, Gujarat Legislative Assembly, a galaxy of intellectuals and saints of the nation, this honour was bestowed upon Dr. Samanta for his exemplary dedication and lifetime contribution towards Social Work and Spiritualism. In absentia, this distinguished Maharsi Samman was handed over to a representative of Dr. Samanta. Humbled by the honour, Dr. Samanta extended his respectful gratitude towards Shri Ramesh Bhai Oza, Founder of Bharatiya Sanskrutika Sambhardhak Trust and all the members & office bearers of the trust.

Beyond Realms of Social Service

Well it can be said by the yardsticks adopted by the Trust that Dr Samanta is closing in on to a stature which transcends the definitions of a social worker or educationist or philanthropist, but he has neared himself to a spiritual high by his selfless and boundless efforts for compassion for people. It’s noteworthy that every year the trust has been honouring spiritual figures, saints, sages, intellectuals, thought leaders and social workers with coveted titles and honours namely ‘Devarshi’, ‘Brahmarshi’, ‘Rajarshi’ and ‘Maharshi’ since 1996.

Apart from Dr. Samanta, Kokila Ben Dhirubhai Ambani was conferred with ‘Rajarshi’ Samman whereas treasurer of Sriram Janmabhumi Tirthakhetra, Pune Swami Govind Devagiri Maharaj received Devarshi Samman and former Vice-Chancellor of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University Dr. Rajaram Shukla was conferred with Brahmarshi Samman.

“Maharshi award is extremely special as it comes from the organisation led by the most revered and venerable Pujya Bhaishri, Shri Ramesh Bhai Oza ji. It will be remembered by our KIIT & KISS family and me forever. I dedicate this coveted recognition to our team that has worked relentlessly and to all the tribal young girls and boys who have struggled and have transformed their lives with resilience.”; said Dr. Samanta.

Paying back to the society has always been the primary focus of KIIT and its Founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta. As a part of its continuous and constant efforts of serving the needs of the society at large, KIIT has lent its hands to the UGC PARAMARSH program. The objective of PARAMARSH program is to mentor the non-accredited higher education institutions to enable them to get accredited and enhance the overall quality of the mentee institutions. Being an organization which earned the status of Institute of Eminence (IoE) because of its quality and value system in imparting world class education, it is obvious that there could not be any better option than KIIT in partnering UGC in this program.

Under the PARAMARSH program, KIIT is supposed to mentor five institutions. But carrying on its legacy successfully and the benevolent decision taken by its Founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta to spread the program statewide, KIIT has mentored more than thirty colleges and three universities till date. Many institutions have expressed their interest and are waiting in the pipeline. In the meantime, KIIT has successfully organized eight workshops which have been attended by more than 200 Principals and IQAC coordinators from colleges of different parts of Odisha. KIIT is also helping the institutions which have already been accredited in improving their grade. Continuing this, KIIT in collaboration with Rama Devi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar organized a workshop involving 48 women’s colleges across the state of Odisha on 30th September 2021.

Prof. Asoka Kumar Das, Vice-Chairperson, Odisha State Higher Education Council and Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro-Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU graced the program, which was chaired by Prof. Aparajita Choudhary, Vice Chancellor, Rama Devi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar. Prof. Jayanta Kumar Parida, Director, KIIT School of Commerce & Economics conducted the workshop.

Coordinator of the KIIT PARAMARSH, Prof. Parida, from his experiences of decades of being one of the members of accreditation committees of NAAC, enlightened the Principals and IQAC members with various measures that can be taken by the institutions to ensure accreditation. He pointed out some key focus areas like Maintenance of Records, Curriculum Development, Research & Innovation, Extension Activities, ICT Development, etc, on which the institutions should work on. With his speech, Prof. Parida motivated the participants to go for accreditation with good grades.

Prof. C. C. Rath, Director IQAC, Rama Devi Women’s University; Prof. Sasmita Mohanty, CPGC; Smt. Shyamali Mohapatra, Registrar; and Dr. Sankara Prasad Mohanty, IQAC Coordinator were present in the meeting. Around ninety Principals and IQAC coordinators from all the forty-eight affiliated women’s colleges of Rama Devi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar participated in the workshop.

KIIT Workshop for Mentee Institutions

Paying back to the society has always been the primary focus of KIIT and its Founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta. As a part of its continuous and constant efforts of serving the needs of the society at large, KIIT has lent its hands to the UGC-PARAMARSH program. The objective  of PARAMARSH program is to enhance the overall quality of the mentee institutions and mentoring the Non-Accredited Higher Education Institutions to enable them to get accredited. Being an organization which earned the status of Institution of Eminence (IoE) by virtue of its quality and value system in imparting world-class education, it is obvious that there could not be any better option than KIIT in partnering UGC in this program.

Under the PARAMARSH program, KIIT is supposed to mentor five institutions. But following the decision taken by the Founder to spread the program statewide, currently KIIT is mentoring 26 colleges and three universities. Many more institutes have expressed their interest and are waiting in the pipeline. In the meantime, KIIT has successfully organized six workshops which have been attended by more than 200 Principals and IQAC Coordinators from colleges of different parts of Odisha. KIIT is also helping the institutions which are already accredited in improving their grade. Continuing this, KIIT conducted a workshop on 24th September 2021 to review the progress of the Institutions mentored by it.

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro-Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU and Accreditation Ambassador, PARAMARSH expressed her happiness and highlighted the importance of accreditation stressing the need to know the strength of the institution and plan for future course of action accordingly. Prof. Jayanta Kumar Parida, Director, KIIT School of Commerce & Economics  conducted the workshop and reviewed the progress of the mentee institutions. Coordinator of the KIIT PARAMARSH, Prof. Parida, from his experiences of decades of being one of the members of accreditation committees of NAAC, enlightened the audience with various measures that can be taken by the institutions to ensure a good accreditation. Reviewing the performances of the institutions, he pointed out some key focus areas like Maintenance of Records, Curriculum Development, Research & Innovation, Extension Activities, ICT Development, etc, on which the institutions should work on.
