]]>KIIT School of Fashion Technology hosted the “KIRTI KALPANA” Graduate Fashion Show 2023, featuring the final collection of Bachelor of Design (Fashion/Textile) students on May 13, 2023.
At the inaugural session, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduating students, their parents, and the entire KSFT team. He expressed his delight in the school’s national and international accomplishments.
Dr. Arvind Kumar Padhee, IAS, Principal Secretary, Handlooms, Textiles, and Handicrafts Department, Government of Odisha, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He shared valuable insights on how the aspiring designers can contribute to promoting sustainable fashion, handlooms, and supporting local weavers in the state.
Shri Himanshu Khatua, Director of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata, attended the event as the guest of honor, expressing his joy on the special occasion. Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar of KIIT-DU, also congratulated the students and conveyed his best wishes to both students and faculty members. Gipsita Nayak, Deputy Director of the School, delivered the welcome address, while Bauri Raul, the course coordinator, extended the vote of thanks.
The fashion show featured 10 talented Bachelor of Design (Fashion/Textile) students who presented their collections. Ms. Payal Rout and Ms. Aishwarya Urmila Mohapatra were awarded the Best Designer Award in the Fashion and Textile categories, respectively.
Additionally, KSFT students Revati Mohanty and Trishna Ray were felicitated, along with their parents, for their outstanding achievements in national and international Beauty Pageants. During the event, the dignitaries unveiled the Kirti Kalpana brochure, marking an important milestone in the celebration.

]]>Trishna Ray, student of KIIT School of Fashion Technology, has been crowned as ‘Miss Teen Universe India 2023’ at the Miss Teen Diva 2022 national pageant held at Jaipur from April 6-13. She will be representing India abroad.
Trishna was adjudged the best at the competition as she also bagged three other subtitles at the competition. They were Beauty with Brains, Best in Ramp Walk and Best in Speech Round. She was also adjudged as ‘Miss Teen India East’.
The Founder of KIIT and KISS Dr. Achyuta Samanta has expressed his delight over Trishna winning the crown and said that her success is reflection of the proper exposure given to students by the School of Fashion Technology at the national and international level apart from academics. He also lauded the efforts of the faculties for her achievement.

]]>Ms. Revathi Mohanty, a 6th semester student from KIIT School of Fashion Technology, bagged the title of Miss Global Asia Pacific 2023 held at Melaka, Malaysia. Revathi was selected by her national director after she won the Tiara Miss India Environment Ambassador back in 2021.
The event took place from 21st to 25th February 2023 in two cities: Kuala Lumpur and Melaka, Malaysia. There were 18 delegates from 8 countries. It had three categories: Miss Global Asian, Mrs Global Asian and Mrs Petite Global Asian. There were rounds such as a deep interview session, introduction round, national costume round, sportswear round, evening gown and the top five finalists.

]]>KIIT School of Fashion Technology (KSFT) has won the First Prize in the Fashion Show at SISIR SARAS 2023 organized by Odisha Rural Development & Marketing Society (ORMAS), Govt. of Odisha. Twenty-one students participated in the fashion show wearing the Odisha handlooms in innovative designs and styles reflecting the traditional values of Odisha. They used the traditional handicraft products made by Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) students as props promoting the use of traditional handicrafts in our modern lives. NIFT Bhubaneswar bagged second position in the competition, which had participation from many other leading fashion colleges. SISIR SARAS, an annual national level fair, is being organized by ORMAS from 13th to 29th January 2023 in Bhubaneswar, during the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023.

]]>An Academic Career Opportunity Interaction session was conducted by Maitri Global Education, a leading global education consultancy based out of Florence, Italy, with students and staff of the Schools of Fashion Technology, Film & Media Sciences, and Mass Communication, KIIT-DU on 24th November 2022.
Speaking at the session, Mr. Devraj Pradhan, Former Diplomat and DG, International Relations, KIIT traced the influence of fashion and trends since the olden days. He talked about the scope and opportunity KIIT is providing the students for a better career and future. Prof. Bauri Raula, Course Coordinator, School of Fashion Technology enlightened students on the importance of portfolio development, fashion marketing and branding. He suggested students seek career options in collaboration with Maitri Global Education.
Mr. Abraham Chorikpara Mani and Mr. George Syriac, Co-Founders, Maitri Global Education introduced the organization. It was registered in 2009 to promote the exchange between cultures, specifically focusing on international education, they said, informing that its core purpose is to be a bridge between cultures, extending high-quality education and services reachable to every aspiring student, they added. MGE is dedicated to finding institutions where talented students are given the opportunity to be trained under experts, making the international experience a reality, they added.

]]>The KIIT School of Fashion Technology celebrated National Handloom Day in collaboration with Shephali Designer House with the inauguration of Kritantuja – 22 on 7th August 2022.
The two-day event was kicked off by Latika Pradhan, MLA, Kabisuryanagar as the chief guest. She exhorted the need to attract and raise awareness among the younger generation towards handloom and traditional art and crafts for the overall development of the sector.
Director of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata, Himanshu Khatua; Director of Shephali Designer House and editor of ‘Kadambini’ and ‘Kunikatha’ Dr. Itirani Samanta, actor and producer Samaresh Routray attended the event as special guests and spoke about the importance of the National Handloom Day.
Espousing the need to make women self-reliant, the Kabisuryanagar MLA said they are key stakeholders in the growth of the handloom industry and the sector also plays a key role in women empowerment.
The KIIT School of Fashion Technology was set up by KIIT and KISS Founder Dr Achyuta Samanta to nurture creativity and creative temperament among the students. His vision has helped students to refine their talents and showcase them before the world.
Dr Itirani Samanta said her designer house, named after her mother, is focused on creating products that lend a contemporary style and design. She added that people would be encouraged to use handloom items with minor modifications reflecting present-day flavour.
She said that her endeavour to venture into the creative sphere will be a notable addition to her career that has spanned across art, culture and literature.
Speaking on the occasion, Samaresh encouraged society to develop a taste for traditional arts and crafts. He hoped that the sector will continue to grow at the national and international level because of the involvement of KIIT-like institutes and individuals who are committed to the cause of the handloom industry.
Deputy Director of the School Gipsita Nayak presented the welcome address, while course coordinator Bauri Raul proposed the vote of thanks.

]]>In a noteworthy achievement, Ms. Esha Rout, a 2017-21 batch student of KIIT School of Fashion Technology, has been selected for the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) for pursuing Master’s in Fashion Design in Hongik University, South Korea. It is a fully funded Korean Government scholarship that covers her flight, tuition, monthly stipend and health insurance for the next three years. Hongik is among the Top 51-100 universities in the world in QS subject wise rankings and among Top 10 Art universities in Asia. Also, it is considered the most reputed Art & Design institution in South Korea. Out of 1200 nationwide applications for GKS this year, 15 candidates from India made it.

]]>The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of three Schools – Fashion Technology, Film and Media Sciences, and Mass Communication – in association with KIIT NSS Bureau observed World No-Tobacco Day on 31st May 2022. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Md. Imran Ali, a noted de-addiction activist and anti-tobacco campaigner, highlighted the dangers of tobacco and the emerging trends that target the youth. He urged to ensure tobacco-free childhood everywhere. Dr. Ali has delivered powerful anti-tobacco messages on multiple national stages, written a book, and produced documentaries on the subject.
In his presentation, Dr. Saswat Subhankar, Pulmonologist, KIMS gave a brief background on the emergence of tobacco which dates back to the 1300s. WHO has been taking strong steps against the use of tobacco since 1988, after it became evident that the use of tobacco is harmful to the human body, he said. Focusing on the message of a tobacco-free campus, Dr. Kajal Parashar, Programme Coordinator, KIIT NSS Bureau emphasized the benefits of effective participation in NSS activities for the students.
