All India Inter University Lawn Tennis, Basketball & Archery Tournaments opened at KIIT

National University Games 2017-18

KIIT Deemed to be University & KISS Deemed to be University are organizing All India Inter University Archery(M/W), Inter Zonal Basketball(M), Tennis(M) Tournaments 2017-18 under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi which are being held at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Campus-13 from 26th to 31st December, 2017.

Gracing the Inaugural Ceremony as Chief Guest, Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS, emphasized that playing and learning should be carried out in tandem on part of the students. In this context, he cited an axiom in Hindi language “Padhte Padhte Khelte Raho, Khelte Khlete Padhte Raho”.

Expressing his pleasure in envisaging a large number of teams present in the tournament, he said, it is indeed our pride and privilege that participants from almost half of the total Universities in India have assembled here. He advised to the players to spare some time to visit KIIT and KISS during their stay here. He assured that all of the players would certainly relish the uniqueness of these beautiful Institutions which might be much cherished experience for them.

Addressing the participants, AIU Observer for Archery(M/W) Shri. B.D.Vanar said that though the winners would be rewarded with medals and citations, but the losers will have nothing to lose. Instead they have to march ahead with competitive spirit and en-cash the experience they gain from being parts of these tournaments.

Sri Vanar said,

“KIIT is one of the Excellent Institutes of India. He thanked KIIT Authority for extending excellent Lodging and Boarding facilities as well as Technical Support. I am confident that everybody would be in jubilant mood, for availing its excellent hospitality at the time of their departure”

Presenting the Welcome Address, the Registrar of KIIT University, Prof. Sasmita Samant said,

“No more Sports is considered a leisurely pursuit, rather it is a core activity. That’s why, Sports can be taken as a professional career at the present scenario. The Government of India should design the concept of different Sports, so that the Sports persons would find themselves in equivalent grades in different sectors at par with their counterparts in Academics,” she added.

Later on, after declaring the tournament opened, the Chief Guest, Prof. Achyuta Samanta, unveiled the Sports Logo of KIIT & KISS and subsequently hoisted the AIU Flag. Among others, Mr. Deep Solanki, Representative, EUSAI and Dr. Gaganendu Das, Director of Sports, KIIT Deemed to be University were present on the occasion.
