Rohan Pal, a third-year student of School of Mechanical Engineering, KIIT-DU, has been selected as a Finalist Globally, in the IxDA Student Design Charette 2021. A total ten students have been selected from all over the world, and he is the only one from India this year. He will be working with other finalists from California College of the Arts; Indiana University Bloomington; Loughborough University in England; Moholy-Nagy University of Arts and Design Hungary; National College of Art and Design in Ireland; and the School of Visual Arts in New York over the next few weeks which is being sponsored by Facebook’s TTC Labs.
Rohan is passionate about product design, research, and building digital products. He has worked with multiple global start-ups, advocating better user experiences and ethical design for communities. He believes that every valuable product and service is born out of empathy for the user and impact at the individual level at scale and aims to make a distinguishable positive impact in the work that he does.
The IxDA Student Design Charette (SDC) champions the next generation of interaction design, by bringing together students and early professionals to tackle global challenges, which is supported by big names in the industry like Amazon, and Microsoft each year. This year, the selected 10 finalists will be working on the brief “How might we achieve greater collective wellbeing through the power of our individual data?”.
The students will explore the potential for private data to enhance global health and wellbeing, and how individuals can contribute their data safely and maintain control of its use. Teams will receive one-on-one mentoring with mentors and reviewers from companies including IDEO, The New York Times, Cookpad, and Mckinsey Design. The finalists will be given free access to Interaction 2021, a global conference focused on interaction design, where they will present their work in January 2021.
