KIIT Students Excel in IITB-ISRO-AICTE Mapathon

Amlandeep Baruah and Netra Mohan Damle, B. Tech. (Mechanical Engg.) 6th Semester student from KIIT School of Mechanical Engineering, took part as a team of two in IITB-ISRO-AICTE Mapathon, an initiative of the FOSSEE Project, IIT Bombay in association with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Their team was recognized as a Winner and put in the list of “Notable Participants”. The problem statement they worked upon was “Natural Calamities”, where the recent major cyclone paths in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, were mapped using Indian remote sensing data. Their maps, along with the maps from participants, found place in the categories of “Champions”, “Winners”, and “Notable Participants”. It is proposed to use these maps for the development of the country.
