School of Electronics Engineering, KIIT Deemed to be University organized two Faculty Development Programs on Virtual Mode during 21st – 26th June 2021. The FDP-I was on “Recent Trends in Communication, Microwave and IOT”, while the FDP-II was on “Emerging Trends on Machine Learning and Signal Processing”. The FDPs were conducted in two parallel tracks, with 15 sessions in each track. The sessions were addressed by a galaxy of eminent speakers from premier institutes, frontline industries and in-house experts. The topics selected for deliberation in all the sessions were unique and organised with a view to give exposure to the new epitome of upcoming technologies.
At the common inaugural function held on 21st June, Prof. Suprava Patnaik, Dean welcomed the participants and guests and expressed gratitude to the experts for their sessions. Dr. Arun Ray, Director Academics, KIIT-DU gave a brief introduction of KIIT and cited the vision of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS for facilitating such types of continuous learning programs to augment the knowledge on the latest technological advancements for keeping abreast the faculty members. Prof. Vieenth N. Balsubramanian, Head, AI Department, IIT, Hyderabad, graced the inaugural session as the keynote speaker and delivered a talk on “Towards Explainable and Robust AI Practice”.
External expert speakers who delivered lectures at the FDP-I on ‘Recent Trends in Communication, Microwave and IOT’ were: Prof. Parameshachari B D, GSSS Institute of Engineering & Technology for Women, Mysuru; Prof. G. K. Mohanty from NIT, Durgapur; Flt Lt. A. T. Kishore from Vidya SanghaTechnologies Pvt. Ltd.; Prof. M. Jameel Akhtar from IIT, Kanpur; and Dr. Puneet Mishra from ISRO Satellite Center, Bangalore. Very informative sessions were also conducted by the internal resource persons consisting of Prof. A. Dutta, Prof. S. S. Singh, Prof. J. S. Roy, Prof. S. Sahu, Prof. O. P Acharya, Prof. A. Mishra and Prof. Bhargav Apasani. Broadly, the deliberations covered trends in 4G, 5G, 6G based communication, antenna and IoT related topics.
Similarly, sessions at the FDP-II on ‘Emerging Trends on Machine Learning and Signal Processing’ were conducted by: Prof. Nithin V. George, IIT, Gandhinagar; Prof. Debdoot Sheet, IIT, Kharagpur; Prof. Narendra Londhe, NIT, Rourkela; Dr. Chiranjeevi Yara, IIIT, Hyderabad;Prof. Deepak Mishra, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram. Internal resource persons consisting of Prof. Sananda Kumar, Prof. Vimal Shrivastava, Prof. Vikas Jha, Prof. Sarita Nanda, Prof. Parveen Malik, Prof. Nirmal Rout, Prof. Ruchi Kukude, Prof. Suprava Patnaik, and Prof. S. K. Sabut also conducted very informative sessions.
At the valedictory session, a handbook on PROJECT EXPO-2021 of School of Electronics was released by Prof. Amlan Datta. The valedictory session was coordinated by Prof. Arigna Deb. Prof. S. S. Singh and Prof. S. K. Sabut gave a brief report of FDPs. Total 154 faculty members and research scholars participated in these FDPs. The sessions were well appreciated by the participants.
