KIIT School of Electronics Engineering Organizes Alumni Talk on “A Hitchhiker’s Guide to System-on-Chip Design”

KIIT School of Electronics Engineering organized an Alumni Talk on “A Hitchhiker’s Guide to System-on-Chip Design” by Mr. Aman Kumar, a 2017 B.Tech Pass-out, on virtual mode on 3rd July 2021. The event started with a brief introduction of Mr. Aman Kumar, Digital Chip Design and Verification Engineer, Infineon Technologies, Germany.

In his talk, Mr. Aman Kumar focused on the design philosophy of electronic circuits and chip design. He discussed how software is reducing the time required for design and is being used for around 70-80 percent of total design analysis. He also detailed the parameters like type of structure, needs, circuits, power requirement, etc. that affect the design philosophy of a structure. He showed step by step analysis of circuit design, IC design and modeling the geometries of structures in order to get a good workable design. His talk was filled with practical knowledge that helped the audience, mainly undergraduate B.Tech. students, to learn and grasp information. The talk focused on introducing students to digital chip design, explained how chip design is done, cleared some misconceptions about electronics in general and what career path one can take in order to work in the VLSI and semiconductor industry.

Earlier, the welcome note was given by Prof. Arindam Basak, Associate Dean, T&P, SoEE. The talk was followed by a discussion among the students, faculties and Mr. Aman Kumar. The event ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Sreyashi Roy, SoEE. The event was attended by students and faculties of School of Electronics Engineering.
