‘E Labs’, the peer learning society of KIIT School of Electronics Engineering, organized a webinar on “Big Data Engineering on Cloud Platforms” on 6th February 2022. The rapid developments in data volumes, coupled with the variety in structure and the velocity with which such data is being constantly generated by an array of sources, make it critical for businesses to realise their data value and build effective architectures to leverage its power.
The session was conducted by Mr. Dipankan Bandopadhyay, a fourth year student from the Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering branch, who is currently working as a data engineering intern with AP Moller – Maersk Group. He took the audience from a zero-sum understanding of challenges that organisations face, and went about exploring complex concepts in a manner that made it easy for students to understand. Some of the topics that were discussed include processing frameworks like Spark, data pipelines, types of data workloads, analytical and reporting tools, and many more.
The webinar witnessed encouraging participation from different schools of KIIT Deemed to be University, with promising feedback for the same. E Labs Society thanked Dr. N. K. Rout, Professor & Director (SRC) for his constant support, and Mr. Dipankan Bandopadhyay for organising the session.
