The NSS Unit of KIIT School of Electrical Engineering and Community Engagement Cell, KIIT-DU organized a seven-day NSS Special Camp at Andharua Village in Khurda district from 12th to 18th March 2024. Dr. Snehalika, NSS Programme Officer from KIIT School of Electrical Engineering and Dr. Kajal Parashar, NSS Program Coordinator of KIIT-DU, led the event, which aimed at fostering social responsibility and community welfare.
Latest news the camp made efforts towards environmental sustainability through a plantation drive, emphasizing the crucial role of each individual in nurturing a greener ecosystem. A cleanliness drive was also undertaken in the village, underscoring the significance of cleanliness and hygiene in uplifting community well-being.
During the camp, the NSS volunteers from KIIT combined recreational activities with social awareness sessions, including school sports competitions promoting fitness and camaraderie. They also addressed menstrual hygiene, and held voter awareness sessions. The fifth day was dedicated to ‘Art of Giving’, the philosophy of life propounded by Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS. The mission helped to foster empathy and solidarity, exemplifying the ideals of service ingrained within the NSS ethos. The team donated clothes, stationary, toys, shoes and also books.
The camp ended with a First Aid Training Workshop, enhancing community resilience. Overall, it exemplified the spirit of service and community welfare, leaving a lasting impact on participants and the local community.
