KIIT School of Electrical Engineering Organizes Tech Talk on ‘Microgrids from Land, to the Sea, and out in Space’

An online Technical Talk on “Microgrids from Land, to the Sea, and out in Space” was jointly organized by the School of Electrical Engineering (SoEE), KIIT Deemed to be University and IEEE PELS Bhubaneswar/Kolkata Joint Chapter on 13th February, 2021.

Delivering the talk, Prof. Josep M. Guerrero, Professor, Villum Investigator, Center for Research on Microgrids – CROM, Department of Energy Technology, Aalborg University, Denmark explained the microgrid concept and how we can produce, store and consume energy locally. He gave some examples on how different technologies are impacting our daily lives with solar PV on our rooftops, electrical vehicles in our garages and home energy storage systems. He also elaborated on the microgrid concept in different applications of land-based, maritime-based and space-based systems. Dr. Subhranshu Ranjan Samantaray, IIT Bhubaneswar, Chair IEEE PELS also spoke on the subject.

Earlier, Dr. Srinivas Bhaskar Karanki, IIT Bhubaneswar, Chair, IEEE PELS Bhubaneswar/Kolkata Joint Chapter welcomed the dignitaries and participants. Prof. Byamakesh Nayak, Dean, SoEE, KIIT-DU thanked Prof. Josep M. Guerrero for delivering the informative talk. Dr. Ranjeeta Patel, Coordinator, School Development Committee, SoEE, KIIT-DU introduced the speaker, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Chandrasekhar Perumalla.

The talk was jointly coordinated by the School Development Committee of SoEE, KIIT-DU, consisting of key members like Dr. Ranjeeta Patel; Dr. Rudra Narayan Dash, Program Head, B.Tech; Dr. Srikanth Alamshetty; Dr. Sarita Samal; Prof. Subrat Behera; and Dr. Chitralekha Jena, and School of Electrical Sciences, IIT Bhubaneswar. Faculty members, IEEE student members, M.Tech and Research Scholars of National and International Institutes attended the talk.
