NSS SCE Organizes Orphanage Visit on ‘Career Awareness & Creative Engagement’

The NSS Unit of the School of Computer Engineering, KIIT-DU, organized an Orphanage Visit on 26th October 2025 at Madhurmayee Adarsha Siksha Niketan, Jharpada, Bhubaneswar. The initiative aimed to inspire children toward diverse career opportunities, while fostering creativity, entrepreneurship, and self-development through interactive and engaging activities.

With the enthusiastic participation of 45 NSS volunteers, the program began with warm interactions and creative sessions, including origami and painting, designed to spark imagination and joy among the children. Volunteers later conducted an informative career awareness session, introducing professional avenues such as engineering, medicine, aviation, business, and defence, along with discussions on various scholarship and educational opportunities.

A major highlight of the visit was a “Shark Tank”-inspired skit performed by the volunteers, motivating children to think innovatively and cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset. The day concluded with a quiz and a fun game of passing the parcel, filling the environment with laughter, learning, and camaraderie.

This initiative aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education)SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth); and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by empowering children through education, awareness, and creativity.

The event was successfully organized under the guidance of Dr. Minakhi RoutDr. Subhashree DarshanaDr. Ajaya Kumar Parida, and Dr. Raghunath Dey, NSS Programme Officers of the School of Computer Engineering, with support from the KIIT NSS Bureau. The program was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Prabhat Kumar Rout, NSS Programme Coordinator, and Dr. Smruti Ranjan Das, NSS Liaison Officer, whose constant encouragement and support ensured its smooth and successful execution.
