KIIT School of Biotechnology Organizes Kuora-KSBT Alumni Talk Series-Chapter Four

KIIT School of Biotechnology organized Kuora-KSBT Alumni Talk Series-Chapter Four. Gracing the talk as the guest speaker, Dr. Sushree Sahoo, an alumna of KIIT School of Biotechnology, mentioned a few points about the perks of doing Ph.D. abroad. From the very beginning she was quite certain that she wanted to pursue a Ph.D. in medicine abroad, she stated, suggesting the participants to similarly have a road map ready, take relevant exams and explore and study on particular areas of interest. She stressed the importance of a clean, proper and perfect CV and how having a publication can give one an added leverage. She inspired the budding biotechnologists by telling them not to be disheartened with rejection and that patience and passion is very important. She added, “Success won’t come to you very soon, but it will come one day so keep pushing. Trust the process and hang in there”.

The participants asked questions and specific queries to Dr. Sushree Sahoo, which she answered humbly to the best of her knowledge about the same. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Gopal Chowdhary. KSBT is looking forward to more such interesting and informative sessions, he said.

Dr. Sushree Sahoo completed her Ph.D. from Germany and is currently working as a Post Doctorate at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee, USA. Dr. Sahoo completed her schooling in the year 2008 and decided to pursue a new emerging field of science. Though there is a common misconception that if one doesn’t get into medicine, they settle for biotechnology, she was always intrigued by Genetic Engineering and KIIT School Biotechnology provided her with the perfect platform, making her a proud alumnus of the institute. She is currently involved in childhood cancer research at St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis, USA.

The session was hosted by Dr. Gopal Chowdhary and was graced by Dr. Srinivas Patnaik, Dean and other faculty members and students of KSBT.
