Dr. Sudipta Chakraborty, Head-Radiochemicals Section of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC)’s Radiopharmaceuticals Division and Associate Professor, Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai delivered a lecture on the topic “Nanoscale brachytherapy for cancer treatment using radioactive functionalized nanoparticles – An emerging field” on 2nd September 2022.
The talk focused on various aspects of synthesis, quality control and evaluation of functionalized nanoparticles labeled with a variety of radioisotopes having excellent potential for use in ‘nanoscale brachytherapy’ with an emphasis on the intrinsic radiolabeling approach. The session provided the participants with in-depth knowledge about the development of new generation radio-nanomedicine formulations.
Dr. Chakraborty has contributed immensely toward the indigenous development of several new radiolabeled formulations which are presently being used in human patients for diagnosis, staging and treatment of cancer and other diseases as approved radiopharmaceuticals. On the occasion, he was felicitated by Dr. P. Rath, Dean, KIIT School of Applied Sciences. The event was coordinated by Dr. Jasaswini Tripathy, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, KIIT School of Applied Sciences.
