Virtual Orientation of 1st Year M.Sc (N) Students of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar by KINS

As part of the Nursing educational curriculum, Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS) conducted an Orientation Programme for the 1st Year M.Sc (N) students of AIIMS, College of Nursing (CON), Bhubaneswar following request of the Principal of the College. The Orientation Programme on Nursing education curriculum, coordinated by Mr. Asokan R., Associate Professor, KINS, was held virtually due to the pandemic situation.

The objectives of the programme were to introduce the organization; planning, recruitment, staffing, and budgeting of the institute; public relation and performance appraisal of the faculty; student and staff welfare services, library services, and hostel of the institute; innovations in teaching learning methods of the institute; and research activities of the institute.

The programme started with welcoming of all the master degree students of AIIMS and faculty members of CON, KINS and AIIMS. A video presentation outlining quick facts about KIIT, its achievements, recognitions and rankings, as well as its Founder and leadership was screened for the participants. Senior functionaries of KIMS and KINS were also introduced to the participants.  

The programme included introduction of KINS, its academic programs, academic profile, infrastructure, laboratories, library, curricular aspects, research activities, collaborations, social outreach, student & faculty achievements, different institutional committees including planning aspects, innovative practices, teaching-learning process for theory and clinical practice. Various aspects of KIMS Hospital, including super specialty services and academic evaluation (theory & practical) were also described.

At the end of the session, different queries from the students were taken up. They were informed about different aspects such as attendance percentage required for appearing in the exam, stipend, online classes, recruitment, clinical duty and examination. The programme provided a deep insight and detailed information on Nursing education curriculum to the students. It ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Smita M V, Associate professor, CON, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.
