Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS) organized an International Conference on 27th July on the theme “Embedding Innovative Nursing Education For Sustainable Development’’ on hybrid mode. The aim of the conference was to promote utilization of present innovative technology in Nursing pedagogy and persuade nursing professionals towards collaborative & experiential learning.
The Inaugural session was graced by Prof.(Dr.) Sudha A. Raddi, Principal, KAHER Institute of Nursing Sciences as Chief Guest; Prof.(Dr.)Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT DU; and Prof.(Brig) Ambika Prasad Mohanty, Dean & Principal, KIMS. The Convener of the conference Prof.(Dr.)Niyati Das, Principal, KINS, delivered the welcome address while the Co-organising secretary, Ms. Rojalin Dash, Assistant Professor, KINS presented the conference report. Release of a souvenir was done by the esteemed dignitaries.
Dr. Sunita Panda, School of Nursing & Midwifery, Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland gave a talk on “Innovative Nursing educational strategies for a greener future” and the presentation was moderated by Dr. Ritanjali Sahoo, Principal, Ashwini College of Nursing, Cuttack. This session was followed by Prof (Dr.)Elsa Sanatombi Devi, Director MFIILIPE & Professor MCON, MAHE Manipal, Karnataka, India elaborately discussed on “Integration of Nursing education, practice & research” and it was moderated by Dr. Yogesh Kumar, Professor, T.M. College of Nursing, Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad(U.P.).
During the afternoon session, Dr. Mary Ann Washington, Prof.(Adjunct) Division of Epidemiology & population health, St. John’s Research Institute, St. John National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore highlighted on “Emerging Evaluation approach in Nursing Education”. That was moderated by Prof. Ratheesh Kumar R, Principal, Vivekanand College of Nursing, Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar. Then Dr. Smitha Madhavan, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Nursing, Lincoln University College, Malaysia gave a talk “AI in Nursing education”. It was moderated by Prof. Dr. Aldrin Vas, Principal, Tejasvini Nursing Institute, Mangaluru.
Featuring four plenary speakers representing renowned academic institutions worldwide, the conference hosted parallel sessions where nearly 27 researchers expounded upon their research findings which were evaluated by Prof.(Dr.) Malarvizi S., HOD, Asst. Registrar, College of Nursing, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, Puducherry; Asst. Prof. N. Siva, Dept. of Child Health Nursing, SUM Nursing College, SOA University, Bhubaneswar; Dr. M.V Smitha, Reader/Associate Professor, College of Nursing, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar; Dr. Rajalaxmi Mishra, Principal, College of Nursing, Berhampur, Ganjam; Dr. Bhuvaneshwari Dash, Associate Professor, Govt. College of Nursing, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh and Abhilekha Biswal, Dean, PG College of Nursing, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh.
The conference witnessed participation of over 526 Nursing professionals physically as well as virtually including M.Sc. Nursing students, Phd. scholars and Nursing faculties from various corners of the world like Ireland, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Nepal and India from Faridkot, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Greater Noida, Bhopal, Manipal, Rajasthan, Udaipur, Odisha, etc.
The conference came to a successful end with the valedictory session. Certificates were distributed to paper presenters and all participants in the event by our dignitaries. A few participants conveyed their valuable feedback and extended their heartfelt gratitude towards KINS for giving a platform for scholarly discourse, drawing participants from various parts of world.
