The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing, Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS),observed International Midwives Day on 4th Mayto recognize and pay credit to the integral role that midwives play in ensuring high-quality, compassionate and women-centric care.
With the theme of the celebration being “Midwives: A Vital Climate Solution”, it conducted a programme, focusing on updating and orienting the nursing personnel involved in MCH care on sexual & reproductive health.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. S.K. Rath, Department of O&G KIMS, PBMH, Prof. Dr. Niyati Das, Principal, KINS & Prof. Kalyani Rath, Vice Principal,HOD O&G Department.
On the eve of International Midwives Day, a CNE was organized by the Dept. of O&G, KINS. The CNE was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. S.K. Rath department of O&G KIMS, PBMH. Prof. Dr. Niyati Das, Principal, KINS welcomed the audience & unfolded the theme.
The keynote address was given by Prof. Kalyani Rath, Vice Principal (HOD) of the O&G department. The celebrations started with CNE and proceeded byMs.Rojalin Dash,Asst.Prof,O&G, KINS, who spoke about ‘The vital role of midwives in providing eco-friendly practices within community-based care’. This was followed byMonalisa Mall,Asst.Prof, O&G, KINS, where she highlighted the topic “Midwives are educators on climate-friendly SRH practices”.In all, 30 Nursing Officers attended the CNE & made it fruitful.
The programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by MrsAnusuya Behera, Asst.Prof, KINS.
The celebrations provided an excellent opportunity to appreciate the hard work and dedication of midwives to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes. It was a reminder of the critical role that midwives play in achieving sustainable development goals and ensuring the health and well-being of women, children, and communities worldwide.
