KINS Faculty Members Participate in Capacity Building Training Program of INC

Four faculty members from Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS) – Mrs. Soumya Sonalika, Assistant Professor, Ms. Daini Sunita, Ms.Tulasi Hansadah and Mrs. Rashmiranjita Parhi, Tutors – participated in the 21st Batch Virtual Training for Capacity Building of Midwifery Faculties of various schools and colleges of Nursing organized by Indian Nursing Council (INC) in collaboration with United Nations Population Fund (UNFP) from 31st August to 7th September 2021. Total 14 eminent speakers delivered scientific sessions at the programme.   

On the first day, two sessions on “Educational Methodology” were taken by Dr. Manju Vasta, Director NRSC, Gurgaon & Former Principal, College of Nursing, AIIMS, New Delhi and Dr. Jyoti Sarin, Dean, Faculty of Nursing Maharishi, Markendeswar Deemed to be University. Second day session on “Midwifery Education and Practice” was taken by Dr. Latha R., Retd. Joint Director of Nursing Education, DME Kerala, while Maj. Gen. Elizabeth John, ADG (Retd.), Army Headquarters, Delhi presented on “Evidence-based Antenatal Care”.  

Dr. Judith, Associate Dean, Manipal College of Nursing spoke on “Evidenced-based Management of Antenatal Complications” on the third day of the programme. Prof. Ebenezer Ellen Benjamin, HOD and Professor of OBG Nursing, College of Nursing, CMC Vellore took the second session on “Evidenced-based Intrapartum Care and Management of Complications”. The fourth day of the training programme had sessions on “Evidence-based Newborn Care and Management of Complications” and “Evidenced-based Postpartum Care and Management of Complications”, which were taken by Dr. Ash P. Shetty, Professor-cum-Principal & Chief Nursing Officer, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar and Prof. Ammi Menon, Professor of OBG Nursing, Gujarat Institute of Nursing Education and Research, Ahmadabad.    

On the fifth day, Preeti Mathew presented on “Different Contraceptives Available in India”, while Mrs. Mitali Adhikari spoke on the topic “Safe Abortion Services and Encourage Voluntary Family Planning Services”. The third session was conducted by Ida Nirmal, Associate Prof., CMC Vellore on “COVID-19 Vaccines”. Dr. Sudha Reddi, Principal, KLE Institute of Nursing Sciences, Deemed University, Belgaum discussed on “Adolescent and Young People’s SRH” on the concluding day. The second session on “Gender based violence and violence against women” was conducted by Dr. Manju Vatsa, Director NRSC Gurgaon.

Mrs. K. S. Bharati, Joint Secretary, INC and Ms. Pearl, Training Moderator, INC, UNFPA also spoke on the occasion. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. K. S. Bharati, Joint Secretary, INC. There were approximately 190 virtual participants from various Schools and Colleges of Nursing in India.
