INTERNATIONAL NURSES WEEK – 2018

International Nurses Week -2018 was celebrated at Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences in KIMS Auditorium, KIIT Deemed to be University on the theme   Nurses : A voice to lead – Health is a human right”.

From 10.05.2018 to 11.05.2018 for two days various competitions like Mr. /Mrs. & Miss KINS, Collage, Rangoli, Quiz, Tug of War is held in KIMS Auditorium by the faculty members of KINS. For all the competition the judges were invited from PBMH KIMS, KIIT International School, Department of Publication & Administrative Department of KIIT.

On 11th May – 2018 the post lunch session began with beautiful performances by talented students of CON & SON of KINS. All the staff and students thoroughly enjoyed various performances like song, dance etc. The day ended with a wonderful skit performed by all the talented students of KINS based on the biography of Florence Nightingale.

Celebration of International Nurses Day
KINS observed International Nurses Day as a part of 198th birthday of Miss. Florence Nightingale, founder of Modern Nursing on 12th May 2018.
The programme was started with lamp lighting & oath taking ceremony by col. Susamma Sahu, NS, PBMH KINS who gave oath to the first year B.Sc.Nursing and GNM students.

The formal meeting started sharp at 12.05p.m. with the lamp lighting by esteemed dignitaries – Dr. Asha P. Shetty, Prof. Cum Principal, CON AIIMS, BBSR, Odisha: Chief Guest, Dr. Sanghamitra Pati, Director, ICMR, RMRC, BBSR: Guest of honour, Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, Vice Chancellor, KIIT Deemed to be University, Col. Susamma Sahu, NS, PBMH KIMS, Prof. (Mrs.) Amarita Lenka Principal KINS and Prof. (Mrs.) Niyati Das, Vice Principal, KINS.
All the dignitaries were welcomed to the dias and presented with flower bouquet. Followed by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries, a welcome song was presented by the faculties of KINS. Welcome address was given by Prof. (Mrs.) Amarita Lenka; she welcomed all the dignitaries on and off the dias and also encouraged and congratulated the new comers.

Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, Vice Chancellor, KIIT Deemed to be University addressed the gathering and praised the Nursing profession in his speech. Col. Susamma Sahu, NS, PBMH KINS, congratulated all the students who had taken Oath and also shared briefly about contribution of Florence Nightingale in Nursing. This was followed by felicitation of chief guest and guest of Honour of the day with a memento and bouquet by Vice Chancellor, KIIT  Prof.(Mr.) Hrushikesha Mohanty and Prof. (Mrs.) Amarita Lenka,Principal, KINS. Dr. Sanghamitra pati, Director ICMR, RMRC, BBSR, Dr. Asha P. Shetty, Principal CON, AIIMS addressed the gathering & encouraged the students to implement the advance technologies in nursing care and also elaborated about the importance of nurses as well as health team in the health care delivery system in our country.

The annual magazine of KINS ‘KARA’ was released by all the dignitaries after a brief report regarding the journey of “KARA” by Mrs. Angel Merry Paul Dani. Release of the magazine was followed by prize distribution to all the winners. (Mr.) Asokan R., Associate Professor of  MSN Dept. was awarded as “ Best Teacher” of the year 2018. The best outgoing student award was bagged by Soumika Devnath from M. Sc. Nursing, Soubhagya Ranjan Khillar from B. Sc. nursing and Ramesh Chandra from GNM nursing. Other prizes were also distributed by all the dignitaries to the winners of different events which was organized throughout the year. The formal function ended with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Niyati Das, Vice Principal KINS followed by delicious lunch. The day ended with talent show by all the faculty and students of KINS .With all the beautiful events, motivation and encouragement of speakers and showcase of talents the celebration of Nurses’ Day -2018 was indeed a great success.
