World Breast Feeding Week-2018 (1st to 7th August) was celebrated at Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences on the Theme “Breast Feeding: Foundation of Life”. On 4th August a role play was enacted by 2nd year GNM students at O&G ward, PBMH, KIMS to create awareness among mothers regarding the benefits of breast feeding. On 7th August awareness campaign was organized by the faculty & students of 1st year GNM at UHTC, Niladri Vihar, Bhubaneswar.
On 6th August theme based symposium was organized by 1st year M.Sc(N) students of KINS at KIMS Auditorium. Quiz competition was held among students of KINS & conducted by Ms. Rasmita Sethi & Ms. Elina Jena Tutor of KINS. There were 5 groups & the group 5 won the 1st prize.
The post lunch session was started with film shooting competition among the students of KINS. The competition was evaluated by the judges from different branches of KIIT Deemed to be University. Mr. Ganeswar Mohapatra, Assistant Professor, KIIT School of Film & Media Sciences, Dr. Sonali Kar, Professor, Department of Community Medicine, KIMS & Prof. Niyati Das, Vice Principal, KINS. The prize owned by the 3rd year B.Sc(N) students.
The formal meeting was commenced with lamp lighting by esteemed dignitaries, followed by welcome address given by Prof.(Mrs.)Amarita Lenka, Principal, KINS. Key note address was presented by Prof.(Mrs.) Niyati Das, Vice Principal, KINS. The chief guest of the programme Mr. Saurav Bhattarcharjee, Nutrition specialist, UNICEF emphasized on the importance of breast feeding on first 1000 days of a child life. Prof. Hrushikesh Mohanty, Vice Chancellor, KIIT Deemed to be University focused upon the objectives of the day celebration followed by vote of thanks by Mrs. Kalyani Rath, Asso. Prof., KINS & the programme ended successfully.
