Radio Programme production workshop in KIIT School of Masscommunication

KIIT School of Mass Communication, Campus-18 successfully conducted a one-day “Radio Programme Production Workshop” today. The workshop, conducted by Mr Sambit Kumar Pasayat, Sound Engineer from prestigious National Academy of Broadcasting and Multimedia (NABM), Government of India and Dr Deepak Samantrai, former Director, NABM, aimed at providing hands-on experience to the students.
Third Semester students of Integrated Masters of Communication and Journalism actively participated and learnt know-how to script, record, dub, mix, and edit various types of radio programmes.

“The workshop was about radio recording, editing, mixing and dubbing and how do we use the latest recording and editing techniques as well as specialized softwares”, said Dr Samantrai.

The enthusiastic students were given brief but detailed information about the application of the software for audio recording and editing by the experts from NABM, which is an apex in-house training institute of All India Radio & Doordarshan, primarily catering to the training needs of professionals of All India Radio & Doordarshan.
Expressing his pleasure in conducting a workshop in KIIT University, Mr Pasayat said, “KIIT University is a pride for Odisha and for Odia people too. When I go outside, I name KIIT University and people know this university better than other leading universities in the state.”
The students were also briefed about the necessity for voice modulation, voice testing and pitch control by Dr Samantrai. To motivate students, Dr Samantarai added that Prof H S Khatua, the CEO of the school always prioritise industry-academia interface and hands-on training for the students.
The purpose of the workshop was to make students industry ready and to bring an interaction between academia and industry people so that students get heads on how to produce radio programmes. I thank the expert Mr Pasayat who came from NABM, Government of India to train our students.” said, Dr Bidu Bhushan Dash, Course Coordinator of the School of Mass Communication. Faculty and administrative staff cooperated to make the workshop a great success.
