KSMC Public Relations Club, School of Mass Communication, KIIT-DU organized the 3rd KSMC Public Relations Summit in virtual mode on 21st April 2022, on the occasion of the 45th National PR Day. The theme of the Summit was, “Building Trust: Shaping the New World with Public Relations”.
Speaking at the Summit, Prof. Ganesh Sethi, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Berhampur University, said that PR is the “5th pillar of democracy” and wields enough influence to make a significant contribution to the world’s progress. The world is a global village where everyone is providing information and the purpose of PR is to filter out this information, stated Dr. Pradosh Rath, Head of the Department, Journalism and Mass Communication, Central University of Odisha.
Mr. Narsingh Majhi, Head of the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Rama Devi Women’s University talked about research as a key component that can make or break a product’s marketing approach. “When we research, we understand, and when we comprehend, the public begins to trust us”, said Dr. Debilal Mishra, Course Coordinator, Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Ravenshaw University.
Dr. Gyana Ranjan Mishra, Assistant Professor, Birla School of Communication, Birla Global University asserted that the world would be a better place if public relations were better established. Ms. Priyanshi Tripathy, President, KSMC PR Club; Dr Anurag Sahu, Advisor; and Ms. Baisakhi Mishra, Joint-Secretary also spoke.
The results of the 1st National-level PR Quiz Competition, organized by KSMC PR Club on 18th April 2022, were also announced by Dr. Bidu Bhusan Dash on the occasion. Rimjhim Bansal from Galgotias University, Uttar Pradesh won the competition, while Gunjan Sharma from Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari and Vijay Prasad Sharma of the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda secured the second and third positions respectively. Ms. M. Snehanjali, Secretary, KSMC PR Club offered a vote of thanks.
