KSMC Faculty Joins as Expert to Capacity Building Training of Prospective Community Radio Applicants

Dr. Bidu Bhusan Dash, Assistant Professor & Course Coordinator, School of Mass Communication, KIIT Deemed to be University was invited as an expert to the Capacity Building Training of Perspective Community Radio Applicants on 17th March 2022. The three-day virtual training was hosted by Young India on behalf of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), Government of India.

Dr. Dash took a session on ‘Community Radio: A Tool for Development of Communities’. He discussed a few key concepts such as social change, development and empowerment and how community radio stations can pitch in development. He emphasized to look at development from various perspectives – modernization, critical and monastic, instead of having compartmental understanding. His talk was highly appreciated by the applicants.

Along with Dr. Dash, Fr Bijo Thomas from Radio Mattoli and Mr Amit Dwivedi, Assistant Project Director, MIB also took the sessions on Government Schemes and Sustainability Options, and Broadcasting Code of Conduct respectively on the second day of the programme.

The sessions were facilitated by N. A. Shah Ansari, President, Young India and moderated by Andaz Aaron from Radio Namaskar, Konark. There were 20 participants from the states of Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland, Jharkhand and Bihar.
