KSRM Organizes a Webinar on ‘Perspectives in Development’

As a part of the webinar series “Perspectives in Development”, KSRM organized a talk by Mr. Kamal Jain, Chief Information Officer, Department of Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development, GoMP for the students of MBA (RM) and MBA (ABM) on 9th April, 2021.

Mr. Jain highlighted the present situation of agriculture and the challenges faced by farmers like not having dependable sources of irrigation, migration, no or negative capital formation and vulnerability to uncertainty. There are issues in the market like small quantity marketable surplus, little power to negotiate to branding, distress selling, wide variation in quality and little or no value addition at farm, he added.

He also laid focus on the opportunities like easy management of intensive Agri/integrated land enterprise, low capital investment, government assistance, technology and increased awareness on organic and nutritional cereals. He then shared about the FPO model to develop a support system and scale to negotiate in the market. Mr. Jain raised some of the major challenges like unavailability of appropriate and experienced Agri- professionals in the sector.

Leading the technology enabled transformation for its farmer oriented services, Mr Kamal Jain has earlier worked as Senior General Manager with National e-Governance Division, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, GoI. He has around 20 years of experience of working with State and Central Government, World Bank Livelihood Development Programme in India and national organizations like NISG, NeGD, and UIDAI, besides 9 years in the core corporate sector.
