KIIT Deemed to be University has initiated theme based multi-disciplinary research on some basic problems humanity is facing today in the changing world. In this connection, a “Sustainable Water Resources Conference” was conducted in January 2021. Following the series, another conference on “Sustainable Soil Resources” was held from 22nd to 25th April 2021.
Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU inaugurated the Conference in the presence of Prof. J. R. Mohanty, Registrar; and Professor Tapan K. Adhya, Director, South Asian Nitrogen Hub, Ex-Director, ICAR-NRRI and Professor KIIT-DU. The valedictory session was graced by Prof. Sudarshan Nanda, Professor of Eminence & Research Head, KIIT-DU; Prof. S. N. Mishra, Dean, KSOM; Prof. S. Moulik, Dean, KIIT School of Civil Engineering and Prof. S. K. Das, Head, School of Civil Engineering, IIT(ISM), Dhanbad. The speakers underscored the importance of multidisciplinary research to create a new vista of knowledge and social engagement strategy for sustainability of soil, an important natural resource on our Earth.
The online conference attracted 250 participants from fourteen countries. Researchers from IITs, NITs and from abroad presented their research works on different aspects of Soil ranging from Soil Science, Soil Engineering to ritual and rites on soil that our scriptures elaborate. The conference created a common platform for the researchers to engage in serious academic discourses on sustainability of soil as a resource.
