Faculty Development Programme-21 Concludes at KIIT School of Film and Media Sciences

A few days of interactive sessions became a practice of sorts as the School of Film and Media Sciences, KIIT Deemed to be University progressed to the final day of the event on 25th June 2021.

Dr. Chandrakant A. Langare of Shivaji University, Kolhapur started his presentation on the subject “Exploring relationship between literature and Cinema” drawing inspiration from his long career and research in which he is deeply involved. In his two hours of deliberation he focussed mainly on maestro Satyajit Ray and Shyam Benegal, both legendary filmmakers from Indian Cinema. Not being from the Film fraternity he showed immense understanding and depth while discussing film movements, theory and culture. He stressed upon literature as a basic tool to make meaningful cinema throughout his lecture drawing examples from Satyajit Rays ‘Pather Panchali’, Shyam Benegals ‘Ankur’ and international filmmakers like Renoire, Francis Ford Coppola etc.

The final session started in the evening with renowned Sound Designer Mr. Tapas Nayak presenting an inspiring and enlightening talk on the technical aspects of sound in cinema through his topic “Emerging sound technology in Cinema”. An Alumnus of SRFTI, he is a passionate film lover and established sound consultant with a large fan following across all social media, print media and cine industry. His presentations were drawn across international  cinema and his own work with insightful inputs into how those technicalities contributed to classic examples of aesthetics in cinema using sound as an extension of visuals or vice versa.

In the QA session everyone seemed happy and started thanking the CEO Prof Himansu S. Khatua for providing the platform and wholehearted support. The Guest and Faculty remembered Founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta for his foresight and constant endeavour to make KIIT Deemed to be University as it looked today with gratitude and respect.

As the event was drawn to a conclusion with faculty thanking the guest and the participants for making it a successful live knowledge session; a sense of longing for knowledge was floating all around.
