Dr. Pramod Kumar Das, Assistant Professor, School of Languages, KIIT Deemed to be University was a panelist in the Podium Discussion on “The Influence of Romanticism on Pedagogical Literatures in Odia” organized by the Research Acceleration Centre, The English & Foreign Languages University (formerly CIEFL) Hyderabad, India on 26th November 2021.
Professor Anand Mahanand, Department of Materials Development, Testing & Evaluation, EFL-U introduced the panel members and the topic and offered an overview of romanticism in the works of Mayadhar Mansingh and other poets of “Subuja Sahitya”.
Dr. Pramod Kumar Das, Assistant Professor, School of Languages, KIIT-DU made his presentation on “The Language of the Odia Romantic Poets: A Study of the Works of Mayadhar Mansingh.” He highlighted the use of language and style in the poems of Mansingh by giving various examples. He also compared some of his poems with that of P. B. Shelly, Rabindra Nath Tagore and others and shared his thoughts on how Mayadhar Mansingh is a poet of the world: Viswakabi who wanted to bring peace, friendship and brotherhood to the whole of humanity through his writings.
Prof. Kalidas Mishra, Retired Professor of English, Sambalpur University, Odisha and Dr Akshaya Kumar Panda, Principal, UGM, Khamar, Odisha were the other distinguished panelists. Eminent academicians, participants, students and teachers from various colleges and universities of the country participated in the podium discussion. It was well appreciated by the organizers and participants.
