KIIT School of Management & Foreign Language Department jointly organize talk on “Japanese Management Practices & Career Opportunities”

KIIT School of Management (KSOM) in association with the Department of Language & Literature, KIIT-DU organized a special talk on “Japan – Management Practices and Career Opportunities” on 30th July 2025 at the Kalam Hall.  The session was aimed at orienting BBA students towards career prospects in Japan, the value of learning the Japanese language, and adopting Japanese management practices to develop the necessary skills and cultural understanding for global employment.

The session commenced with a warm welcome by Prof. Ritika Sharma, Associate Dean (BBA), KSOM. She introduced the distinguished speakers Prof. Nabin Kumar Panda, Head, Department of East Asian Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Delhi and Ms. Mami Kimura, Japanese language teacher and overseas volunteer of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)  and emphasized their valuable contributions to academia and international education.

The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Aravind Tripathy, Dean, KSOM and Mr. Sameer Kumar Das, Associate Dean, Department of Language & Literature.

Ms. Mami Kimura addressed the audience and shared her enriching experience of teaching Japanese at KIIT over the past two years. She emphasized the growing interest in Japanese language learning among KIIT students and the potential it holds for future opportunities while expressing the cultural differences of India and Japan.

The highlight of the event was the special talk by Prof. Nabin Kumar Panda who delivered a deeply insightful lecture on Japan’s management practices and emerging career opportunities. Beginning with a brief historical overview of Japan’s economic development—both pre- and post-World War II—he elaborated on the country’s rapid economic rise, known as the “Japanese economic miracle.” He also addressed Japan’s current demographic challenges, particularly its aging population, and how India’s young workforce presents a unique opportunity for collaboration and employment.

Prof. Panda emphasized that management students at KSOM can gain a competitive edge by learning Japanese, which enables better cultural integration and enhances career prospects in Japan. He appreciated and lauded the noble efforts of the University’s foreign language department for providing a platform to students to learn global languages such as Japanese, French, Spanish, German etc. He acknowledged that such initiatives are instrumental in shaping the students of KIIT into future global leaders.

The session was highly interactive, with students enthusiastically engaging with the speaker and inquiring about opportunities for higher education and employment in Japan. Faculty members of KSOM and students participated actively and greatly benefited from the real-world perspectives and practical insights shared by Prof. Panda.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Sameer Kumar Das, Associate Dean, Department of Language & Literature. He also introduced the newly joined faculty members of the Foreign Language Department, who interacted with KSOM students following the session.
