KIIT School of Languages Organizes Students’ Orientation Programme

School of Languages, KIIT Deemed to be University organized the Students’ Orientation Programme for the Undergraduate (B.A. English Hons.) and Postgraduate (M.A.) courses of Third Semester in English on July 26, 2021. The Programme was organized in two virtual sessions conducted in Google Meet platform: the morning session dedicated to addressing the students of B.A. English Hons. and the afternoon session for the M.A. English students of third semester.

In his opening note, Dr. Biswajit Das, Dean, KSOL welcomed the students to the beginning of their journey to a new academic session and specified the necessity of maintaining a positive attitude during these difficult times. Dr. Das’s speech was followed by elaborate discussions of the academic course plans of the semester by Dr. Sahel Md. Delabul Hossain, Academic Coordinator, KSOL. Dr. Hossain presented overarching ideas pertaining to the course curriculum, pedagogy, course outcomes and the activities they will be engaged in across the semester. Mr. Sameer Kr. Das, Deputy Director, KSOL noted the scope and possibilities of academic and professional development through the short-term language courses offered by the School of Languages.

Presentations regarding the courses (core, elective and skill enhancement courses) were given by respective course facilitators who, besides clarifying the nuances of the course and the pedagogic practices, interacted with the students regarding their expectations and observations regarding the courses. The syllabus, course plan and activity calendar for the courses were circulated by respective course facilitators on the same day.

The sessions ended with vibrant interactions among students, staff and faculty members of the School where the students shared their experiences of the last academic session and thanked the combined, meticulous efforts of all the members of the School for their contribution to their academics, co-curricular and overall well-being.

Both the sessions of the Orientation programme were hosted by Prof. Debanjali Roy, Assistant Professor, KSOL.
