German Club of the KIIT School of Languages (KSOL) organized webinar-cum-workshop “Unity for Peace” to commemorate German Unity Day on 3rd October 2021 in the presence of representatives from Goethe Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata and students, faculty and staff of KIIT. Prof. (Dr.) Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT Deemed to be University; Dr. S. K. Mohapatra, Director, KIIT School of Management and Dr. Biswajit Das, Dean, KSOL graced the occasion.
Guests and keynote speakers from Goethe Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata – Ms. Madhurima Moitra, Head Language Courses & Examinations and Mr. Souvik Biswas, German Language Instructor – made an elaborate presentation about the consequences which led to the fall of Berlin Wall and the re-unification of East and West Germany. The experts also shared the cultural and literary implication of these events through quizzes and interactive Q&A sessions.
While the webinar was meant for commemorating German Unification, the workshop was dedicated for interactive and entertaining sessions on German language and culture which included drama, expressionist dance, quizzes, music and many more. Workshop started with a Demo Class by Mr. Pravin Gupta, German Trainer and Faculty-in-Charge of the Club. A short German drama and a well-choreographed Expressionist Dance was performed by Aishee Ghosh (Biotechnology), Neelotpala Dash (Biotechnology), Agnijita Roy (Mechanical), Srishty Vishwakarma (Management) and Utsa Saha (Biotechnology). The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Anasua Ghosh from the School of Dental Sciences who also sang a beautiful German song.
The German Club of KIIT School of Languages (KSOL), a first-of-its-kind initiative at KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, was launched on 25th June 2021. As the first foreign language club of the University, this student driven learning forum is constituted to help students acquire knowledge on culture, language, history, lifestyle, work ethics and many more about Germany. The session was initiated and moderated by Ms. Snehagni Roy, a student from School of Biotechnology and coordinator of the German Club.
