The NSS Unit of KIIT School of Computer Engineering, School of Mass Communication, School of Fashion Technology, and School of Film and Media Sciences organized a webinar on Food and Nutrition as a part of NSS Week 2021 celebrations. The webinar talk on Mo Handishala, Mo Aahar was delivered by the recipient of Global Nutrition Leadership Award, Mr Basanta Kumar Kar, who is popularly known as the Nutrition Man of India.
In his talk, Mr. Kar elaborated on the topic of nutrition and its various aspects with quantitative and qualitative data in correlation with India, with special focus on Odisha and its districts. He enlightened on the topics of micronutrient malnutrition, the status of women, and how malnutrition during pregnancy affects the child for a lifetime, the target of Poshan Abhiyaan, and ‘set the kitchen – set the diet right’. Dr. Kar shared his case study on real-life experiences and motivated one and all to take up projects considering the conditions of malnutrition in society.
NSS volunteers will be starting a project on malnutrition soon, informed Dr. Kajal Parashar, Programme Coordinator, NSS KIIT. Dr. Samaresh Mishra, Director, Student Affairs, KIIT and Dr. Bidu Bhusan Dash, Programme Officer, NSS Unit, KIIT School of Mass Communication also spoke on the occasion.
The programme officers of NSS SCE – Prof. Ramakant Parida and Prof. Sital Dash expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards the invited guests, participants, dignitaries, and student coordinators – Nitin Sultania and Harsh Raj, among others. The webinar was anchored by Ritika and Yash, who outlined the achievements of KIIT NSS Bureau.
