NSS SCE Organizes Mental Health & Drug Abuse Awareness Programme

The NSS Unit of the School of Computer Engineering, KIIT-DU, successfully organized a Mental Health & Drug Abuse Awareness Programme on 11th December 2025. The programme witnessed the active participation of 110 NSS volunteers.

The event aimed to promote emotional well-being and create awareness about the harmful effects of substance misuse. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by the NSS Anthem, setting a dignified and inspiring tone. The dignitaries were felicitated, and a welcome address was delivered by Dr. Smruti Ranjan Das, NSS Liaison Officer, KIIT NSS Bureau. An insightful address on the importance of mental health awareness was delivered by Dr. Raghunath Dey, Programme Officer, School of Computer Engineering.

The programme featured a special address by the Chief Guest, Prof. Sweta Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, along with a short video message. The theme was further introduced through a brief presentation and movie teaser by the anchors.

A major highlight of the event was a skit and short film performed by NSS SCE volunteers, portraying real-life issues such as stress, peer pressure, emotional struggles, and substance abuse. An interactive Red and Green Flag Activity engaged participants in responding to scenarios related to mental health, relationships, and personal safety, fostering reflection and informed decision-making.
