Awareness & Interactive Seminar for NSS Volunteers

Self-development through community service is the main aim of the National Service Scheme (NSS). It seeks to help the people of the society by making them aware of the different schemes and projects of the Central Government.

A seminar was organized by KIIT Community Engagement Cell to introduce NSS and its activities, and facilitate interaction among NSS members of KIIT on 28th May 2022. Dr. Kajal Parashar, Program Coordinator, KIIT NSS Bureau; Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Director, Student Counselling; Dr. P. K. Rout, NSS Programme Officer, KSBT; Dr. Abhishek Kumar, NSS Programme Officer, KSOM; Dr. Bidu Bhusan Dash, NSS Programme Officer, Film Fashion, Mass Communication; and Dr. Ramakant Patra, NSS Programme Officer were the panelists of the session.

In her introductory speech, Dr. Parashar said that KIIT has received the prestigious Lilavati Award from AICTE this year for its exceptional work. KIIT is the first private university to have an NSS Bureau, Dr. Priyabadini informed, adding that it regularly sends students abroad and within the country for youth exchange programs. Dr. Rout discussed in detail the different types of activities carried out by NSS. Prof. Kumar encouraged the students to work for society and learn from it. We can grow only when society grows, stated Dr. Dash. The blood donation drive, anti-tobacco campaign, and awareness for green campus should be undertaken round the year, suggested Dr. Patra.
