KIIT-DU Signs LoI with Newcastle University Singapore

KIIT Deemed to be University signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Newcastle Research and Innovation Institute (NewRIIS), Singapore, a branch of Newcastle University, UK, on 9th October 2024, on a virtual platform. Speaking at the LoI signing ceremony, which was organized by KIIT School of Electrical Engineering, Professor Jonathan Galloway, Provost and CEO of Newcastle University in Singapore (NUiS), emphasized long-term planning to strengthen the research culture at Newcastle University Singapore and KIIT Deemed to be University.

Mr. Debraj Pradhan, Director General of the International Relations Office, KIIT-DU, thanked the esteemed members from Newcastle University Singapore for the LoI between the two universities. Dr. Anurag Sharma, Director of Postgraduate Research and Associate Professor in Electrical Power Engineering at Newcastle University Singapore, highlighted the salient points and scope of the LoI.

Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar of KIIT-DU, outlined the objectives behind the Letter of Intent for International Cooperation. He shared the vision of Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT, KISS, and KIMS, as the year 2024 marks a significant step in internationalization for achieving excellence through strategic planning and meticulous execution. Prof. Samanta has made immense contributions to the fields of art, culture, literature, film, media, society, sports, and national integration, he said.

This collaboration offers several benefits for students and faculty of both institutions, including enhanced collaborative research opportunities. Students will receive academic guidance and support from their supervisors at NewRIIS. Other collaborative activities include joint research seminars, joint education programs, professional training courses (jointly run by both institutions), student virtual exchanges, and PhD supervision.

Prof. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi, Director of the School of Electrical Engineering, delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Ranjeeta Patel, Dean, extended the vote of thanks. Prof. Cheng Siong Chin, Director of Research at Newcastle University Singapore, and Dr. Khalid Abidi, Associate Professor and Director of Education at Newcastle University Singapore, were also present at the signing ceremony. Deans, Directors, Faculty Members, Technical Assistants, and staff from both universities attended the event.
