Orientation Programme on Classical Music & Culture by SPIC MACAY KIIT Chapter

SPIC MACAY is a name that needs no introduction. Established in 1977 by Dr. Kiran Seth, it now has over 300 chapters all over the world. SPIC MACAY KIIT Chapter, functioning from KIIT Student Activity Centre (KSAC), conducted an Orientation Programme for the students which had a beautiful blend of music, precious information on our rich and composite heritage and a walk through a tunnel of beautiful and priceless memories.

The programme was opened by Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director, Student Services, KSAC by his valuable words. The coordinators, assistant coordinators and different group leaders took it forward by enlightening about 100 new members and students with the rich-culture of the society.

The evening became special with the presence of Alumni, Sayan Ray Chowdhury, Rajeshwari Garain and Nandini Samanta who have contributed a lot to the SPIC MACAY KIIT Chapter. They shared their experience and mentored how to take it to the next level.

As it is rightly said, “where words leap off, music begins”, so the musical part began with the alaap from Arijit Bhattacharya’s Sitar, then it was carried forward by Sagnik Mitra’s soulful voice. The orientation was concluded by Nandini Samanta’s divine ‘tehaai’ on Raag Maalkosh. AICTE has been advocating to promote classical music and culture through SPIC MACAY chapters among the youth of institutions and KIIT is rightly taking it forward.
