Planting saplings is an effective way to make the air healthier. It is the cheapest way to fight the climate crisis. Stuck at home we sometimes feel helpless when it comes to fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, but we can still take positive action for the planet like the members of Khwaab Society of KIIT Student Activity Centre by planting saplings for the future.
Student members of the Society planted saplings at their home on the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer and spread the message that planting saplings/trees would provide carbon sequestration, aesthetic beauty and may be a cost-effective way to reduce ground-level ozone, a toxic component of smog that causes many deaths worldwide annually.
Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director, Student Services, KIIT thanked the society members for carrying forward the “Go Green” initiative of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS and appreciated them for investing in nature which can address many environmental problems.
