KIIT Student Activity Centre celebrated the 100th Birth Anniversary of Pandit Ravi Shankar on 24th December 2020. SPICMACAY KIIT Chapter took the initiative to organize the event. ‘Korus’, the Music and Dance Society and ‘Kreative Eye’, the Painting and Photography Society, KSAC, KIIT also joined hands to celebrate the auspicious occasion. The evening started with the soulful voice of Indrani Chakraborty who mesmerized everyone with her ‘murkis’. The evening was carried forward by Sanchari who blew the audience’s minds with “Albela Sajen Aayo Re”.
Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director Student Services, KIIT welcomed all the performers, students along with the two alumni Samrat Bhattacharjee and Sadakat Aman Khan. Next on the list were the beautiful dance performances by Sweta Bose and Sarbani Sengupta. KIIT alumni Sadakat Aman Khan who is known as “Mr Harmonium” and Samrat Bhatacharjee’s classical song added zing to the event. Sagnik Mitra’s beautiful voice and Soumaydip Mondol’s magical hands on Sarod provided a fabulous experience. Arijit Bhattacharya once again created magic with his sitar.
The major highlight was the release of the video with bites and testimonies from Panditji’s relatives, his students and other eminent personalities in Indian classical music and dance. They also acknowledged KIIT and KSAC for celebrating the centennial birth year of Panditji. The video can be viewed by clicking the below link:
