KIIT Alumni Association hosted alumna Shrinjoyi Chhetri at the year’s last episode of the KIIT Alumni LIVE Series on 19th December 2020. Speaking at the event, which was hosted LIVE through KIIT Facebook page, Shrinjoyi lucidly described her life at KIIT and how she gave equal importance to academics and extracurricular activities. She also performed Odissi dance for the audience.
Shrinjoyi Chhetri is a trained classical dancer who is trained in three classical dance forms like Odissi, Kathak and Bharatnatyam. She had started learning at a very young age of 2.5 years and still continues to practice Odissi under the aegis of Shri Rajib Bhattacharya. She has attended workshops conducted by Guru Ratikant Mohapatra. She has also received the CCRT scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in the field of Odissi dance and also the Jugal Srimal scholarship from Nehru Children’s Museum, Kolkata. She has earned many other laurels and recognitions at various National and State Level competitions. Currently, she’s working as a Quality Engineer at an IT product company in Bangalore. She is also a State Level Badminton player and is a Prabhakar in Music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad.
With 7.2K views on Facebook, her performance was very well taken by the audience. Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director Student Services thanked her for accepting the invitation and making everyone live the moments she described. Dr. Behura emphasized the fact that creating a balance between academics and extracurricular is important in a student’s life and Shrinjoyi has successfully achieved that.
