On August 26, 2025, K-1000, the premier R&D initiative of KIIT Deemed to be University, hosted the Inauguration Ceremony of its flagship event “IgniThon”. The grand evening was attended by nearly 1,000 students, and graced by distinguished dignitaries including Prof. Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar; Prof. Gopal Chandra Kundu, Director (R&D); Prof. Suresh Chandra Satapathy, Director (Doctoral Research & Publications); Dr. Amlana Panda, Assistant Registrar (R&D); and Dr. Ajit Kumar Pasayat, Associate Dean, KSAC.
The leaders highlighted the role of student-led technical societies in nurturing innovation, building practical skills, and offering real-world exposure to research and technology. They encouraged students to actively participate in such initiatives for their holistic growth. The ceremony concluded with cultural performances, including vibrant song and dance acts, adding energy and color to the evening.
Prior to the ceremony, K-1000 organized “IgniThon” – a 12-hour hackathon on August 24, 2025 designed to spark innovation, creativity, and problem-solving. The competition featured three tracks: Beginner Track – For newcomers to explore and innovate on foundational projects; Intermediate Track – To tackle moderately complex problem statements; and Advanced Track – High-level, real-world inspired challenges for seasoned participants.
Participants worked intensively on coding and real-time development, supported by mentors through interactive sessions. Projects were evaluated post-hackathon, with winners and runners-up felicitated during the Inauguration Ceremony. All participants received certificates recognizing their contributions.
The resounding success of the Inauguration Ceremony and IgniThon 2025 reaffirmed K-1000’s mission to foster experiential learning, sharpen technical proficiency, and inspire innovation across KIIT’s vibrant student community.
