The KIIT International e-Model United Nations (MUN) was organized by KIIT Student Activity Centre (KSAC) from 17th to 19th December 2021. With over 670 delegates and 22 Executive board members from every corner of the world, the conference started with a blast. 11 committees deliberated on various agendas involving education, economic empowerment of women, human rights, climate change, international cooperation, health and many more.
The Inaugural ceremony was graced by H.E. Mr. Federico Salas Lotfe, Ambassador of Mexico to India as the Chief Guest and Ms. Esther Karema Mutua, Education Attache, High Commission of Kenya, India as the Guest of Honour. They congratulated the Conference Secretariat for organizing MUN in the time of COVID and appreciated the involvement and interest of so many delegates in International relations. The guests were welcomed by Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT-DU. Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, Vice Chancellor KIIT-DU emphasized the role of youth in International relations. Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder KIIT & KISS and Hon‘ble MP Loksabha addressed the delegates and thanked them for joining the conference. He wished them for a productive 3-days deliberations. He also congratulated the Conference Secretariat and KSAC for making the event happen on such a large scale. Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director Student Services gave the closing remarks and thanked all dignitaries including Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Pro Vice Chancellor KIIT-DU.
Continuing the legacy, the day two of the 2021 edition was nothing less than a roller coaster ride which started with intense debate and deliberation and ended with a relaxing and rejuvenating stand up show by none other than India’s biggest standup comic, Rahul Dua.
The Valedictory ceremony was graced by H.E. Mr. Muhamed Cengic, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to India as the Chief Guest. He and other dignitaries were welcomed by Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director SS. Aniket Majumder, Secretary General KIIT International e-MUN delivered the report of the 3-days proceedings and Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar delivered the Word of Thanks. The secretariat members were then felicitated by the dignitaries, after which the Executive Board members were invited to announce the winners of the committees.
KIIT International e-MUN 2021 had collaborated with 18 International MUNs, 5 NGOs including PLAN India, Child-line India Foundation and ActionAid, an international NGO. It has also partnered with 12 companies including renowned VIP Industries as its Associate Partner and Nikon as its Photography partner. Lastly, even with everything going online, 675 delegates participated in KIIT International e-MUN to make it one of the largest conferences in Asia yet again.
