‘Kamakshi & HeforShe,’ a society formed for the empowerment of all genders under the KIIT Student Activity Centre (KSAC), organized a talk show to mark the International Day of Transgender Visibility on 31st March 2023. Titled “Beyond Binary”, the event featured guest speakers Ms. Sony Sil, City Mission Manager at CMC, and Ms. Sadhana Mishra, Social Development Officer, KISS.
The talk show provided a platform for the speakers to share their stories and experiences, and to educate the public about the challenges faced by the transgender community. It aimed to promote awareness and visibility for the community, while also addressing common misconceptions and stereotypes. The event was coordinated by Rupali Mohanty and Anvesha, Coordinators of ‘Kamakshi & HeforShe’ and Ananya Jena and Annirudha Roy, Assistant Coordinators. It was moderated by Shubhadittya and Akarshi, members of the Society.
Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director-SS, KIIT-DU, congratulated Team Kamakshi and HeforShe for organizing the event and thanked the speakers for sharing their views and experiences with the young audience. The talk show successfully promoted inclusivity, awareness, and the importance of respecting people’s boundaries.
