Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) signed an MoU with Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL), Avadi, Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 10th July 2024. AVNL is a Government of India Enterprise, Ministry of Defence.
While addressing the gathering, Professor Achyuta Samanta, Founder KISS & KIIT expressed his gratitude to AVNL for signing MoU with KISS-DU and hoped that this association would be strengthened in future. He expressed his desire to see that the key objectives of CSR, Education, Internship and Skilling are achieved through this MoU. Shri Biswaranjan Pattanaik, Director, HR, AVNL Co in his address shared the journey of AVNL and some of the significant milestones achieved over the years. He talked about the scenario of Defence Sector in India and also shed light on the major CSR activities taken up by AVNL.
Shri Ranjan Kumar Bal, General Manager/Co & HR AVNL Co in his speech appreciated the achievements of KISS and KIIT in the last three decades. Speaking earlier, Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice Chancellor, KISS-DU in his Welcome Address presented a brief profile of KISS-DU, its achievements and the innovative concept of Professors of Practice which has been much appreciated by the UGC. Professor Behera added that KISS-DU lays focus on skill building and the key points stated in the MoU is a welcome step in translating skills training, community outreach and engagement activities into fruition. He also shared some of the community activities organized by KISS-DU and concluded by saying that “we shall put in joint efforts in skill building.” Professor Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU congratulated for inking this MoU and highlighted the importance and significance of MoU for both KISS & KIIT and AVNL. He also presented a brief profile of KIIT including its achievements and accolades.
In his address, Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, Registrar, KISS-DU said that this MoU shall play a seminal role in building relationships between the Defence Sector and KISS which already has a significant global presence. He appreciated the attitude, interest and involvement of the AVNL team and said that these three qualities have made it possible for this MoU to see the light of the day. He concluded by saying that it is a unique MoU as it focuses on the importance of social responsibilities. Dr. Routray also proposed a formal Vote of Thanks on the occasion.
